One of Los Angeles’ most recognizable houses has been sold, we first learned from Dawn F. Time, for $7.6 million to Miami Beach-based remix master and house-music producer Erick Morillo. Originally designed and built in 1974 by maverick modern architect Harry Gesner for lumber industry executive Mike Hyne, the recently and completely rehabbed residence is prominently perched like a hang glider ready to take flight on a gated promontory about as high in the Hollywood Hills as one can get. Knee buckling, 270-plus degree views encompass a bevvy of quintessential L.A. landmarks: the Hollywood sign, the Hollywood reservoir, Griffith Observatory, the Downtown skyline and, far below, the Hollywood Bowl.

The glassed-in lower-level master suite has two sitting areas, built-in wardrobes and an exhibitionist’s dream bathroom with a free-standing soaking tub set in to the triangular point of two massive sheets of glass. Glass sliders in the lower-level rooms open to a roomy, wrap-around yard with a plaza-sized terrace, built-in fire pit and boomerang-shaped infinity pool with integrated tanning shelf and spa. It’s listed by Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group.
