FILIPPO LORETI’S VENICE SERIES TIMEPIECES

Just in time for the holidays, Italian watch design company, Filippo Loreti has released their Venice Series , now available for purchase on their website. The Venice Silver, Black Gold and Blue Gold — all retailing at $269 — are the result of years of thought, design and research by Danielius Jakutis, co-founder and lead designer of the brand. St Mark’s Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) in Venice inspired the line and had a powerful effect on him. The company’s online Journal notes that the Basilica’s “fantastic interior became completely covered with opulent gold mosaics, telling visual biblical stories with wondrous iridescent effects. The incredible details throughout this architectural masterpiece secured St. Mark’s as a symbol of the Republic of Venice’s wealth and power.”

Jakutis says, “With the Venice series, we tried to capture the city’s extravagant yet sophisticated atmosphere. I tried to put as many thoughtful design elements into the watch as possible. At the same time, however, I also tried to maintain clarity in the design so that the product would remain functional and wouldn’t seem too clunky or flashy.” He adds, “I  personally consider the Venice series to be the cornerstone of the Filippo Loreti brand.”

For those who aren’t yet familiar with Filippo Loreti, the brand was born of Danielius and his brother Matas’ desire to create luxury watches without the luxury price. The brothers note that they were fed up with the insane prices most watch retailers were charging for luxury watches. They believed that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the look and feel of a luxury timepiece, without having to pay thousands of dollars for the privilege. So they founded Filippo Loreti; creating luxury timepieces for a reasonable price. It’s a company, they believe, has democratized the luxury timepiece industry.

They began their journey in November 2015 with their first collection launched via Kickstarter. Setting their goal at $20,000, they were as shocked as everyone else when they instead raised $926,620 in 30 days. They became the most funded timepiece project in crowdfunding history. Like Uber or Warby Parker before them, they wanted to disrupt a well-known industry by creating a new, more consumer-friendly pricing structure and strategy. Their second Kickstarter campaign in 2016 raised $5.6 million proving that watch lovers were loving, and responding to, the Filippo Loreti approach.

Today, their handcrafted, Italian luxury timepieces often sell for less than $250. They offer free shipping and 90-day returns and a 10-year International warranty.
