It was a party that would make F. Scott Fitzgerald proud.
DAOU Vineyards & Winery celebrated its third annual membership party in December 2016 with a bang. This year’s soiree was themed after Fitzgerald’s iconic novel The Great Gatsby. The wine flowed and, with a charcuterie spread to die for, party guests took in the ethereal sights of the hills of Paso Robles at sunset. Following dinner and a memorable speech from Georges Daou, the festivities extended long into the night.
We had one task for the party: drive the McLaren 570s from Los Angeles to our destination in Paso Robles. This 2-seater is blazing fast and goes from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. The bright orange color was definitely a showstopper as we took the tech-enhanced car up the coast. We also took our time to stop alongside Santa Barbara and Pismo Beach to take some incredible pictures.
Guests were dashing and dressed to impress in traditional 1920s garb – men wore tuxedos, bow ties and a variety of hats. Women arrived in beaded flapper dresses and flowers in their hair. The drink of choice was the DAOU Vineyards Soul of a Lion, a vintage 2013 Cabernet.
Our ride, the McLaren 570s, stole the spotlight and was a perfect match for such a sophisticated event.
Guests posed with the several Rolls-Royce and McLaren cars that were parked around the vineyard, adding an extra layer of elegance to the event.
The red carpet entrance rivaled the entrance of the Academy Awards. Guests were greeted by burlesque dancers flaunting the Roaring 20s attire.
DAOU Vineyards imported this centenary tree to complete the stunning decoration and illuminate the winery.
We can barely wait till next year’s celebration when the theme will be James Bond, the most elegant spy in history.
To experience the magnificence of DAOU, reservations can be made online and are strongly recommended.
