He’s frequently mentioned the influence of architects like Richard Meier and the late Charles Gwathmey on his work, but there’s no denying Scott Mitchell’s own artistic prowess in the works he’s created the world over since 1999. Mitchell sees each project as a true collaboration between himself and his clients, as well as his team of designers, consultants and contractors. Some of his most famous works include Nobu in Malibu, and the absolutely stunning home he created for real estate mogul Kurt Rappaport (the image below). Here is the architectural juggernaut’s top five, in no particular order.
1. The New York Yacht, Launch & Engine Company made the most classical and beautifully crafted boats.
2. I think Louis Kahn’s National Assembly Building of Bangladesh in Dhaka is a masterpiece with its honest expression of materials and geometric form.
3. I love the lines of the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 as much as Steve McQueen did.
4. I wear Australian Blundstone boots and they last forever.
5. As long as they have exercise, German Shorthaired Pointers are the best dogs you could have, and I have three (left to right: Reagan, Truman, Riner.)
