Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is delighted to welcome guests back to the resort with reimagined experiences, bringing to the forefront a spacious and serene destination with a focus on nature, wellbeing, privacy, and reconnection with family and friends. With a vast open layout surrounded by nature and spread out over 590 acres of breathtaking oceanfront, preserved mangroves and tranquil lagoons, guests can take advantage of the resort’s open, barrier-free design, programming that welcomes the outside in and sprawling outdoor spaces without the crowds, easily navigating the grounds on foot or by bicycle. With an oceanfront pool, expansive white sand beach, nature trails, golf course, multiple outdoor dining venues, luxurious rooms and more, travelers can spend quality time at Andaz Mayakoba recharging and rediscovering themselves. As part of Andaz Mayakoba’s reimagined experiences, the resort has introduced expanded wellness programming, new culinary offerings, activities within nature, thorough cleanliness practices and more to ensure guests feel safe and comfortable when selecting the resort as their next vacation destination.
With a focus on health and wellbeing, Andaz Mayakoba has rolled out a variety of new wellness programming on a dedicated weekly wellness calendar including fitness classes, meditation, spa workshops and more. Guests interested in fitness have a number of classes to choose from each day including beach yoga and Pilates, Mayan meditation, stand-up paddle board yoga, aquatic workout classes in the pool, HIIT cardio, personal training sessions and more, which are held on the resort’s spacious white sand beach, lawn or pool area and will be limited in size. Naum Wellness & Spa has also moved their spa programming outdoors, providing guests with a variety of new offerings including aromatherapy sessions where guests mix their own scent, spa workshops on how to make various spa products including body scrubs, face masks and massage oil, as well as mini Thai, reflexology and back massages performed on the beach.
Andaz Mayakoba has also infused wellness into their cuisine with the introduction of a new Vegan Bar, featuring fresh and seasonal snacks and dishes made with sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, as well as natural juices, fresh fruit waters, smoothies and healthy shots. The new, casual culinary concept heralds a creative, plant-based approach with an emphasis on vibrant, organic foods and vegan snacks inspired by Mexican cuisine. Menu highlights include fresh salads such as the Rice Croquettes Salad with polenta rice balls, roasted pepper and truffle puree, green peas, avocado, spinach and vegan cheese; vegan wraps such as the Lettuce Wrap made with plantains, soy meat, lentils, wheat germ, coriander and mustard; healthy bites including the Vegan Kabob with squash noodles, tomato, smashed beans, avocado and vegan cheese with matcha and pumpkin seed sauce; healthy desserts and snacks such as Tapioca and Coconut Pudding and Granny Smith Apple Soup, as well as fresh fruit, juices, smoothies and more. Apart from the Vegan Bar, guests are also treated to expanded menus at the resort’s beachside restaurants Sotavento, which serves sustainable seafood and fresh Mediterranean cuisine, and Tinta del Pulpo, which offers tacos and Mexican comfort food, along with creative cocktails at Olla Bar in the evenings.
For leisure guests, Andaz Mayakoba will continue to stimulate the senses through distinctly local experiences with expanded outdoor activities as part of the resort’s weekly curator calendar. Activities include guacamole making, tequila tasting, Mexican candy sampling, a nature trail bike tour, hammock making, Tenango embroidery workshops, an eco cruise and more, several of which are complimentary. Families can take advantage of creative activities from the resort’s Kimbo Kids Club, held outside in the beach area, including Mayan drawings and bracelet making, Mayan sandcastle building, piñata making, recycled arts & crafts, painting, beach games and more, which provide an excellent opportunity for family bonding time.
“We are ready and waiting to welcome guests back to Andaz Mayakoba. While the world has responsibly stayed home, we have taken this time to reimagine the resort experience and prepare the property for arrivals in this new era of travel,” said General Manager Pascal Dupuis. “We have placed a strong emphasis on wellness, the outdoors and redefined the way guests experience immersive and inspired amenities in Andaz Mayakoba’s warm and welcoming environment. Immersed in the heart of nature, guests will find it easy to stay physically distant yet socially connected while rediscovering themselves and reconnecting with their loved ones.”
To ensure the care and comfort of their guests, Andaz Mayakoba has updated their safety and cleanliness procedures in line with Hyatt’s Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment. As part of this commitment, the resort will have a dedicated Hygiene & Wellbeing Leader who will be responsible for new operational guidance and protocols including staff certifications and trainings for hygiene and cleanliness, increased frequency of cleaning with hospital-grade disinfectants, implementation of enhanced food safety measures, prominently placed hand sanitizer stations throughout the resort, protective masks and equipment for resort staff and social distancing guidance in public areas, among other standards. Andaz Mayakoba will be making other property-specific changes as well, including moving check-in to the beach, implementing a bicycle rental station where bikes will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between each use, digitized restaurant menus that will work by QR code so guests can access menus on their smartphones, digital curator calendars, room service menus and other resort offerings, among other initiatives.
