ARTWORK
Upon entering the main lobby, you will see Knot No. 11, a monumental 16-foot stainless steel sculpture designed by Damon Hidreth. The sculpture is based on legend; that Alexander the Great found the solution to untying this insoluble knot by slicing it in two with his sword, making him the king of Asia.
After a $40 million renovation, American designers Cheryl Rowley and Yabu Pushelberg gave the hotel a polished look by using ash colored granite tile and shimmering mirror columns. Vibrant flowers adorn the lobby with a perfumed aura once you enter the hotel. Behind the sculpture is a magnificent spiral staircase that sits in front of a 23-foot Darren Waterston oil canvas mural entitled Symphonics (2005). This special work can be described as a “multi-valent skyscape” and brings an ethereal feel to the enchanting space.
