I had the chance to visit just before the volcanic events. My stay at the Fairmont Orchid was incredible. This luxury resort is located on the Kohala Coast, offering everything from ocean views to high-end amenities. It’s a perfect escape for anyone seeking relaxation or adventure.

Hawai’i’s Big Island is known for its dramatic black lava fields and tropical surroundings. The Fairmont Orchid sits on 32 acres of oceanfront land, blending luxury with nature. It’s only a short drive from Kona International Airport, so getting there is easy. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel relaxed and taken care of.

The Fairmont Orchid has 540 guest rooms and 54 luxury suites. Each room has a modern design with plenty of space. You can enjoy views of the ocean, gardens, or mountains from your private lanai. The Fairmont Gold concierge floor offers VIP service, with extra perks for guests who want the best experience. The rooms also feature spa-like bathrooms, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. 
Delicious Dining Options
There are plenty of great places to eat at the Fairmont Orchid. Start your day with a breakfast buffet at Orchid Court. Or, grab a snack at Brown’s Deli. For drinks, you can visit the Luana Lounge, Kahakai Bar, or Pau Hana Champagne Bar. If you prefer fine dining, Brown’s Beach House offers fresh island-inspired meals with live music and a beautiful sunset view. For a traditional Hawaiian experience, attend the Hawai’iloa Lūʻau for great food and entertainment.

For those interested in wellness, the Spa Without Walls offers many treatments in a peaceful area surrounded by waterfalls. The fitness center has modern equipment, yoga classes, and personal trainers to help you stay fit during your stay.

If you want to see more of the Big Island, there’s plenty to explore. You can snorkel with manta rays, try deep-sea fishing, or hike near the world’s tallest mountain. For golf lovers, the Mauna Lani golf course is nearby, known for its amazing over-the-water holes.
