Have you had a very good financial year? While renting a yacht might not be in the cards for you, what better way to celebrate and spend some of that money than take a luxury cruise? You can say goodbye to 2017, usher in the New Year, and treat yourself to a much-needed getaway while sailing on a luxury cruise line.

Think that cruise lines are just for retired snowbirds and families? While you may see some kids running around or spot an elderly couple lounging in the sun, cruise lines have changed a lot in the last few decades.

Although it all depends on where you’re going and which cruise you take, there are a lot of activities that don’t include shrimp cocktail, a piano bar, and shuffleboard competitions. Some cruises are so “hip” that you won’t even have to brush up on your bingo strategy before you board the vessel.

Treat Yourself To A Massage or Hangout in The Sauna

Life gets busy and it’s really easy to make excuses why you can’t make time for a massage or spend  time indulging in a little TLC. When you’re on a cruise line you have nothing but time so why not take advantages of their services whether it’s a yoga class, meditation, a steam room, or an hour-long massage?

The sole purpose of taking a vacation is to take a break from everyday stressors, so don’t pass up the chance to toss your stress out to sea.

Eat in Luxury Cruise Like You’re At A Five-Star Restaurant

On land, even if you have a lot of money to spend, it can still be difficult to get into a celebrity chef-owned or five-star restaurant. On a cruise, you can enjoy some of the most popular “to die for” dishes and don’t have to wait for hours in line or try to bribe a host or hostess.

Feeling thirsty? Cruise ships are notorious for serving any drink you want and at any time of the day. While a Cosmo or Scotch on the rocks is still classy and well-deserved when you’re sailing on seas, many cruise ships have made ordering a drink a little more fun and even a little exciting.

Some cruises will cater to the craft beer aficionados. And don’t be surprised if you see a robot bartender or the option to hang out at an ice bar (which might be refreshing after lounging in the sun all day).

Get In Touch With Nature

When was the last time you were able to see the stars clearly or watch the sunset? If you live in the city, it can be nearly impossible to see the stars and if you work late or find yourself stuck in front of a computer, seeing the sun set might not be an option.

Going on a cruise is the perfect excuse for staring at the night sky and trying to find the “Big Dipper” or watching the sun set into the sea. You don’t have to worry about smog, traffic congestion, or even the loud noises of life in the city. Take a deep breath and take it all in.

Have some overcast evenings while traveling? Some cruises have a planetarium on board. If you’ve never been in one or you haven’t visited since childhood, it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

When you board a luxury cruise, there are endless activities to enjoy and many of them are a once in a lifetime experience. Seize the opportunities and don’t forget to give a good tip, too.
