San Francisco is always a good idea. That’s not how the famous saying goes, but it might as well be. It’s no wonder that when Destination Luxury was asked by USC Marshall Partners to host a Louis XIII dinner event for their top donors, the team was ready to go.

The trip started off perfectly with an early morning flight on JetSuiteX from the Burbank Airport to Concord, California.

The check-in at JetSuiteX’s private terminal in Burbank was a breeze and it was complemented perfectly with the snacks offered.

The JetSuite XL, a 30-seat Embraer E135, is known as “everyone’s private jet.” Passengers had plenty of space with 36 inches of legroom. The ride was super smooth, even better than expected. Each seat is equipped with WiFi, entertainment, and power outlets. There were 2 seats on the right, 1 seat on the left, and just 10 rows per plane.

The flight attendant served an assortment of organic snacks, such as veggie and coconut chips, and also a nice selection of wine and spirits.

The lounge in Concord is fully equipped with snacks and coffee, as well as high-speed WiFi, so professionals who are in between flights can catch up with their work. Plus, a quick $40 Uber ride gets you to San Fran’s famed Financial District.  louis xiii

The final destination was the Wayfare Tavern, best known for serving Food Network star Tyler Florence’s famous dishes.

Destination Luxury hosted the USC Marshall Partners dinner on the top floor, which is also reserved as the private dining room of the restaurant. The lofty space featured classic American decor, a leopard print rug and a stunning skylight view of the Transamerica building. USC Marshall Partners is the premier giving society that raises funds for the USC Marshall School of Business and USC Leventhal School of Accounting.

Marshall Partners is open to alumni, parents, and friends. Membership gifts can be dedicated to the Dean’s Strategic Fund, which enables the deans (Dean Jim Ellis, Marshall School of Business, and Dean Bill Holder, Leventhal School of Accounting) to further invest in students, faculty and the future of the school. Philanthropic support from Marshall Partners ensures that Marshall and Leventhal remain in the top tier of business schools worldwide, leading the way in educational opportunities and groundbreaking research.

The evening started with a rose champagne reception where guests mixed and mingled. Next up was a 5-course meal paired with an incredible wine brought by Todd Morgan, a 15-liter bottle of 1995 Cabernet Kendall Jackson 2006. This sensational vintage had tastebuds whirling with a rich, sultry taste.

The finale of the meal was a taste of the ultra-premium Louis XIII cognac. The label reads:

“This cognac grande champagne was served at the royal banquet given to their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at the Chateau de Versailles in July 1938 and was again chosen to be served to Queen Elizabeth II during her Majesty’s visit to France in April 1957 E. Remy Martin & Co. printed in France”

A toast was made using the same Baccarat crystal glasses that were used in previous royal settings. The clink of the crystal produces an incredibly rich sound as did the cheers to USC Marshall Partners.
