All photos were taken by the Leica M and are unretouched

As a professional photographer, I’ve had my fair share of cameras…from shooting the Academy Awards with a digital camera (Nikon coolpix 950) back in 1999 to shooting with my array of Canon cameras with L series lenses, I had no idea what to expect when I went to the Leica store.  Typically, the camera buying experience is not fun.  I’m sure you have been to Samy’s in LA or B & H in New York, and the salespeople are NOT friendly!

Lenses are presented on a red felt square block as we waited to test out the M series Leica. Then, the camera was presented and we were asked what lens we would like to try.  I opted for the 16 mm lens to take some pictures of the store. The focus system was unique.  I had to turn the lens to line up 2 small squares that sat in the middle of the view finder.  After clicking my first click, I looked at the picture and was super impressed!

The lines were clean and the colors were vibrant.  I had to take a picture of a person to test it out again.  This time, I used a different portrait lens.  I took a picture of Eddie using the ambient light outside.   The decision is clear…after using Canon’s for 8 years, it’s time to switch over to Leica.  As a photographer who shoots high end properties and fashion, it doesn’t make sense to shoot with anything else!

Shopping at Leica is like shopping at Hermes; the only difference is you are buying a camera! After the camera test was over, I was offered a glass of MaCallan 18…all I have to say is they know how to create the ultimate luxury shopping experience.  I was so happy!
