A true Southern experience came to Saddlerock Ranch’s Oak Grove at Malibu Wines where Derby Day LA was celebrated in honor of the Kentucky Derby. Over 300 Angelenos gathered together to enjoy a premium open bar featuring Woodford Reserve with specialty cocktails from some of the world’s best mixologists. Dressed to impress, California living but Southern inspired belles wore colorful sun dresses and dazzling hats…the bigger the better. Gents wore light colored suits, bowties and gloves to bring out that Southern charm.
Don Julio Tequila, Peroni, Los Angeles Magazine , The Creative Life and VOSS Water sponsored the afternoon while guests feasted on comfort food, placed bets on the actual Kentucky Derby and participated in bourbon tastings.
Celebrities such as Camille Grammer (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), James Anderson (New Orleans Saints), Dennis Haskins (Saved By The Bell), Carissa Rosario (Model), Leslie Kirkland (Big Rich Texas), Jasmine Dustin (Being Mary Jane), Vaja (EDM Recording Artist) and more drank refreshing Mint Juleps, took photos with live horses surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Malibu with live music from local bluegrass band The Get Down Boys, and a live DJ. At 3:30pm, the group gathered together to watch the “Running of the Roses” on state-of-the-art TCL HDTVs.
A portion of proceeds from ticket sales were donated to Canter California, an organization dedicated to transitioning thoroughbred racehorses off the track into new careers and RideOn, a charity that teaches adaptive horseback riding to children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities.
